Tell me what you need covered and I’ll price it across every carrier I’m appointed with, in all 31 states I’m licensed in. It costs nothing, there’s no obligation, and if the plan you already have is the right one for you, I’ll tell you that.
There are two markets, and most people only know about one
Most people shop the Marketplace — HealthCare.gov or their state’s exchange. For a lot of families that’s the right answer, especially anyone who qualifies for a subsidy.
There’s a second market most people never hear about: privately underwritten major medical plans. These aren’t sold on the exchange and they don’t qualify for subsidies. They ask health questions. In exchange, if you qualify medically, they can offer lower premiums and broader networks than what’s available to you on the exchange — sometimes by a wide margin.
Who private coverage actually fits
It’s worth looking at if you:
Are in reasonably good health
Work or travel across state lines and want a network that travels with you
Are self-employed and paying full price on the exchange today
It is not the right answer if you:
Have a significant pre-existing condition. Underwritten plans can decline you, exclude that condition, or charge you more for it. An ACA plan has to accept you regardless, and that protection is worth more than a lower premium.
Qualify for a meaningful subsidy. That usually beats anything on the private side.
Are eligible for Medicaid, or for coverage through an employer or a spouse’s employer.
I’ll tell you which market you belong in before I quote you anything. If it’s the Marketplace, I’ll say so — I’m licensed there too.
What happens when you book
Fifteen minutes, phone or video, with me. Not a call center, and nobody else calls you afterward.
We’ll look at what you’re paying now, what you’d pay on the exchange with any subsidy you qualify for, and what private underwriting would look like if you’re a candidate for it. You’ll leave with real numbers whether or not you end up working with me. Every client I place gets my direct line for as long as they hold the policy — you call me, not an 800 number.
